Post-apocalypse

I think this is my best heavy psych discovery of the year. Pharaoh Overload, featuring members of the Finnish band Circle, which is also a-ma-zing.
This is incredibly psyched and incredibly heavy. You can't have an idea how well they do that before you listen to it. The sound is so pure, it's difficult to explain exactly but your ear can gets each distinct vibe at its full power. It's a perfectly layered composition that melts into a melody as a whole. And what takes me by the guts are these industrial sonorities, coming from a post-apocalyptical world, something you recognize from Circle. This is somehow extremely repetitive but being so, it takes you very high and let me be clear, never boring... Listening to this is a real trip.

I don't know why all those bands must have a "sun" in their name. Must sound cool. Anyway, litteraly, the sound is cool. More than that. Sungrazer are one of the best heavy psych - stoner band out there. They sound a lot like Colour Haze, somehow slightly heavier. Perfect late night sound.

Witch's not dead

I never talked about All Them Witches? This is a very bad mistake.
I will not go to much into the details, because I am lazy, anyway I never give really useful details. Let's say this band of guys from the Tennessee has already some experience behind, but more importantly a lot of talent. This is the kind of sound you need when you wanna let your mind wander, but in a psychedelic landscape tainted of old school blues. All Them Witches will make you visit desolated landscapes from an epic past. It's going through some heavy passages, where the slow fuzz and the distortion, as well as the echo on the voice will make you feel like connecting to an old magic power. This bewitching feeling is  intensified by the unique touch of sensitivity and melancolia in the voice, that you now need to experience:

Old weird psych band

Un billet succinct, juste pour balancer ce morceau assez hypnotique de Josefus, un groupe éphémère (1969-70) du Texas. Une montée en puissance captivante.

Documentaire Underground Rock 70-90

Wouaw je viens regarder ce documentaire sur youtube : Such Hawks Such Hounds sur le rock underground des années 70 à 90, c'est de la folie. Excellent pour faire un tour d'horizon du heavy rock, du stoner et du heavy psych et se donner envie de sortir les enceintes.

Heavy Psych, continuation

Les mystères vaporeux des émanations intriguantes n'ont pas fini de vous chatouiller la membrane tympanique avec une formation psychedelic et stoner pour le moins énigmatique venue de Roumanie, et dont même la typographie laisse perplexe :

The :Egocentrics

En tout cas c'est du lourd. De la fumée très lourde, pour s'embrumer le cerveau dans un nuage noir d'orage, où éclate par moments une sauvage brutalité électrique à déboussoler un monstre magnétique.* 

"20 12" est ma préférée de l'album Love, Fear, Choices and Astronauts, mais l'album s'écoute d'une traite sans problème, accompagné d'une lecture apocalyptique (je lisais La Horde du Contrevent en même temps, c'était très adéquat, surtout avec le style Golgothique).

Introduction au Heavy Psych

Un genre où les riffs d'Hendrix et Black Sabbath reviennent des profondeurs pour emporter vos perceptions auditives vers l'extase sonore. Simplement.

Earthless est LE groupe par lequel j'ai découvert ce genre, lorsque Magnet Magazine a désigné leur album From The Ages en 3è position des meilleurs albums de 2013 : ici pour voir le classement

Comme la norme dans le psychédélique et le progressif est au hors-norme, les morceaux durent généralement vingt bonnes minutes, mais à chaque fois on se laisse emporter par le flot et on en redemande !

D'autre part, j'attire votre attention sur la qualité du label Teepee records qui produit Earthless, mais également Kadavar et Graveyard que j'aime beaucoup, Truckfighters et Karma to Burn qui sont déjà des références, et plein d'autres \o/
